Harney County Youth Football League – 2025 Season Announcement

We’re excited to announce the 2025 season of the Harney County Youth Football League for both 3rd–4th grade and 5th–6th grade players! This year brings new changes, including an exciting pilot program for our younger athletes.

3rd–4th Grade Team – New Flag Football Pilot Program

For the 2025 season, the 3rd–4th grade team will be transitioning to flag football as part of a pilot initiative.
This change comes after observing a significant decline in tackle football participation and difficulty in finding games in recent years.

Key Details:

  • Still a travel team – this remains unchanged.
  • All games will be jamboree-style, mostly held in Baker.
  • The season runs from August through October, with practices beginning August 25th at Slater North Field.
  • Live Sign-Ups:
    📍 August 14th, 2025 | 5–6 PM at Slater
  • Fee: $100 (includes a jersey players get to keep).
  • The program will form three 10-player teams.
  • Volunteer Coaches Needed!

5th–6th Grade Team – Tackle Football

The 5th–6th grade team will continue with traditional tackle football this season.

Team Details:

  • This is a travel team with potential for one home game.
  • Games are scheduled weekly against teams in nearby Oregon counties and parts of Idaho.
  • A new league is currently being formed to improve competition and scheduling.
  • Live Sign-Ups:
    📍 August 14th, 2025 | 6–7 PM at Slater
    (Players will be fitted for helmets and gear during sign-ups.)
  • League Fee: $100

Volunteers Needed

To ensure a successful season, we rely on the support of our community. We’re currently looking for volunteers to help with:

  • Scoreboard operations
  • Chain crew
  • Concessions
  • Gate admissions

💡 Revenue from concessions and admissions helps us purchase new equipment!
